About the Artist
Born in Yorkshire England, I emigrated to the United States with my family as a young child. I grew up in Chicago and currently reside in Northwest Indiana.
My interest in painting began while watching a PBS television show about one stroke painting where the artist painted simple flowers. That inspired me to look into local art classes. I enrolled in a class for "Beginner to Advanced" artists. I explained to my instructor and mentor, Wes Berrier who is a registered painter, that I had never painted before. He teaches the Rembrandt style of chiaroscuro, or light and dark. This was a far cry from the one stroke flowers that I expected to be painting. That was eight years ago and I continue to study with Wes.
My love of travel has influenced much of my work. Many of my original paintings were composed from a variety of photographs that I have taken during my travels.
I enjoy portrait work as well as florals and cityscapes. My work has been featured in several local galleries and exhibits. I have also done commission work for private collections. I am a member of The Hobart Art League, Illiana Artists, Cornerstone and 18 Artists.
